Genesis of Don Bosco School

Rev . Fr. Provincial and his council members wanted to extend our mission to many more young people in and around the locality of Krishnagar city by opening an English medium co-education school .The Don Bosco Community of krishnagar was asked to study the visibility for this new venture .Fr Robin Leonard Gomes ,then Rector of Don Bosco Krishnagar,with his council members study meticulously and made concrete plan under the leadership of Fr. Mani Manuel,then director of Don Bosco Technical and private ITI and presented to Fr.Provincial and his council members for the approval. The school was approved and immediate work began .With limited resources , the old exciting shade was turned into new Don Bosco English Medium School .

The new English Medium school was inaugurated on 4thApril 2016 by his lordship Rev.Bishop Joseph Suren Gomes and Rev. Fr. Nirmal Gomes ,the province of Kolkata .During the inauguration many priests, sisters and other distinguish guests were present. The school started in its very first year with 42 students and three teachers- Mrs.Michelle Payel Mondal , Mrs. Moumita Biswas and Mrs. Suman Karmakar and Fr.Robin Gomes was its first principal .With the arrival of Fr.Dorpon Mondal immediatedly after his ordination was given double responsibilities –the administrator of the house and also incharge of the English Medium School. Fr.Darpon gradually gave new facelift to the school .After that Fr.Ujjol Mondal was appointed to be the new person to take over the school. With the help of Fr.Mathew Pana ,the new administrator the schoolstareted picking up students.In the new academic session 2018-19 thev school,was renames as Don Bosco School with its new logo –Rise and shine. The school uniform was changed into Don Bosco’s original uniform .At the moment the school is having more than two hundred students from LKG to class 3 with nimne well qualifies teaching staffs.The new academic session 2019-20 will soon start with the opening os cklaa 4 and hoping for the construction of the new building under the blessings of the Lord. We would like to appreciate the wonderful work and the endless efforts made by all staffs in enabling our students in shaping ones character and we look forward in future to stand in the top most position in our society in the best way possible. Don Bosco School (English Medium), Krishnanagar is a branch of the prestigious group of Educational institutions across the country and the globe. The School comes as a dream project in the Bi-centenary Celebrations of the Birth of its founder St. John Bosco. It is indeed a wonderful gift for the people of Krishnanagar in Nadia District as there are not many Academic Schools in English Medium. It is in this perspective that Don Bosco Krishnanagar has conceived the idea of providing better opportunities for the people in and around our city of Krishnanagar. Hence, we count on your invaluable support as we undertake this new venture of starting the new English Medium School, to make learning joyful and meaningful by providing the necessary and up-to-date facilities and to facilitate quick and in depth learning in students,

inculcating moral and social values for the benefit of society. Don Bosco School is established and administered by the Registered Society of the Salesian Province of Kolkata (Northern India). It is exclusively a Minority Educational Institution, belonging to the Catholic Church. Provision is also made for the admission of non-catholic students. The School aims to prepare the students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Indian Secondary Certificate (ISC) Examination, New Delhi.

  • 1. The aim of the institution is to impart sound value based education to the students by forming in them habits of piety, virtue, discipline and self-reliance during the years of their studies, thus enabling them to be dutiful sons of the Catholic Church and useful citizen of their motherland, India.

  • 2. The School is a Christian unaided Minority Institution, an Co-education school registered under West Bengal Act XXVI of 1961 (Registration No, S/89295 of 1997-98).(recognized by the National Commission for Minority Education Institutions, Government of India, (Vide F. No. 3221 of 2006, dated 10.08.2006) and Department of Education of the Government of West Bengal.)

  • 3. The method of education followed in the school is the Preventive System taught and practiced by St. John Bosco – the Father and Founder of the Salesian Congregation, and Friend and Teacher of the young. It is based on Reason, Religion and Loving Kindness. We seek to form the youth, through Education, into persons of character, competence, conscience, compassion and commitment who will foster uprightness in public life.

  • 4. Religious Instruction: Being a Christian Institution, the Classes of Christian Doctrine (Catechism) are compulsory for Christian students. All other students should attend classes of Moral Science/Value Education, which deal with moral principles, values and rules of conduct. A student must strive to attain quality of mind and heart and integrate into his life virtues such as honesty, sincerity, piety, compassion, generosity, love for nature and self reliance.

  • 5. Special attention is given to ensure a high standard of morality and discipline in the school. Guardians are requested to collaborate in this with the School Authorities by insisting on regular attendance and punctuality of their wards.
